The Grand Rapids Brief is a free email newsletter about Grand Rapids, published by Cedarhall Media ("we").

What we collect

• Your email address (the only thing our sign-up forms ask for).

• Your answers to our optional sign-up survey (for example, your neighborhood and interests), if you choose to answer.

• Basic newsletter statistics, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. Our email platform collects these automatically.

• If you sign up through a form on Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes us the details you entered in that form.

• If you refer friends, we keep a count of how many signed up with your link, so we can send referral rewards.

How we use it

• To send you The Grand Rapids Brief (every Monday and Friday) and the occasional email about it, such as a welcome email or a reward you earned.

• To understand what readers like, so we can improve the newsletter.

• To describe our readers to advertisers only in totals (for example, how many readers live in each neighborhood). We never give advertisers your name or email address.

Who handles it for us

• beehiiv, our newsletter platform, stores our subscriber list and sends our emails.

• Meta, if you signed up through a Facebook or Instagram form.

• Our own secure server. If you sign up through one of our Facebook or Instagram ads, Meta passes your sign-up details to our own secure server, which passes them to our email provider, beehiiv, only to subscribe you.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your personal information.

Your choices

• Every email has an unsubscribe link. Click it any time and we'll stop emailing you.
